Well I always loved my heavenly Father but I got baptized to get a good jw wife. It worked, and she even loves the governing body more than me!
I guess I will laugh out loud on that one for a long time. lol
my spouse and i had supper with some long time friends this evening.
we got onto the subject of baptisim, and out of the four of us, we all got baptized for some other reason than love of jehovah.
i find this to be really sad.

i have seen a number of posts here stating that the wts turns a profit off cas (and das for that matter) as if it is an established fact.
i tried searching for prior threads on this, in case maybe there is evidence i'm not aware of (such as inside sources), but the search function is not too advanced so i didn't find anything.
in any event, about 4 years ago when i used to attend them it seemed that the expenses they would announce for a 2-day ca would be around $10k, and for a 1-day it would be $5k.
Do you think they would have assemblies if they weren't making money? They eliminate all kingdom halls that do not make them money. I know as my hall was deleted. Publishers had nothing to say about it either. Now we all have to drive a long way to the meetings. They also will not build an assembly hall unless there is enough support for it. It is all about the money friend. Please wake up!
Another thing that got me was once we had water damage at our hall. we pay the society for insurance. Did they cover us? NOPE! Fix it yourselves and by the way it has to be up to certain standards. Morons!
a real christian, when deciding on a matter would read scripture, pray, and based on their scriptural understanding make a decicion based on their conscience.
unfortunately, most witnesses would rather do a search on wtl on the subject and do whaterver the unfaithful and discraceful "slave" says.
they are exactly like the pharisees with their traditions of men and rulemaking legalism who "make the scriptures invalid" with their going beyond them..
one day assembly was safeguard your conscience. Told a sister that they were teaching basically that your conscience should be programmed and not trained. She said she is not programmed because she chooses to go along with the watchtower.
it's a shame this is only in the study edition, so the general public can't see how normal and down-to-earth the witnesses are in how they perceive themselves.... .
.
cedars.
all that protection and all the while the child molesters have free reign!
i know this has been discussed before but i think a fresh thread on this will be enjoyable.
Haven't liked one yet!
seriously, if i am going to stay a jw for now, is there anything wrong with donating all for local kindom hall purposes, and simply not donate to the world wide work (wt)?
i mean, won't the local money just go to the kingdom hall expenses (among some other expenses)?
i'm telling you right now, the wt ain't getting my $ until things change!.
I don't give even one cent either way. Oh wait! I do drop one penny in the box whenever my wife ask me if we have made a contribution. That way I can say yes and not be fibbing.
i have been "lurking" for about four years now.. it was an incredibly weird experience just to look at a site like jwn or freeminds.
he came off very loving.. so, i decided that i would talk to one of my elders about the things i read.
if any of you have time to read this, thank you.
"So now the main point of my post is this. How can I be SURE that the Watchtower organization is NOT being used by Jehovah? How can I be sure that they just haven't gone astray like the apostate nation of Israel?"
This video might help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=hLXOzQQ2ePM
"Things I Could Never Believe - Trinity, Hellfire, and the condition of the dead. Those things are surefire to me"
Not all christians outside the watchtower believe these things.
"Things I Don't Believe - Blood transfusions, the misuse of disfellowshipping, 607 and 1914."
Why would God use an organization that blatantly uses such false doctrines?
"My second Point is this: If the Watchtower is wrong, then what does God want from us? What was Jesus really trying to teach us? Is there going to be an earthly paradise ever or is a hevenly reward for all? What is the ressurrection really about? What is our hope, really?"
Much of your faith can remain in tact if you just give it time and do more bible reading. These things are not dependant upon the watchtower organization. Many that have left the watchtower still believe in these things. Don't give up because the watchtower is false.
"My problem is, I so badly WANT to believe that the Watchtower is right. I want them to be used by Jehovah"
But why? Why not want it Jehovah's way? This video might help.

Hate to say it but; you need to research and answer these questions yourself (with help of course). For me reading and researching everything about the watchtower society and shutting my mind down to the mind control at the meetings has allowed me to deprogram. Now after a year and a half not only am I starting to learn things over to find the truth I have totally let go of the false notion that Jehovah is using this pothetic organization.
Keep in mind that Jehovah rejected the nation of Isreal and selected individuals out of every tribe and nation. Why would he choose a group again on the earth that would simply repeat the mistakes of national Israel? Those that worship him today are not under a list of written rules and trapped again to be followers of men. No they are a free people. They exhibit the fruitage of Holy Spirit in the way they act overall. This fruitage is Gods work in them and not there own works this way no one can boast or judge.
Visit jwstruggle.com for refreshing research that is biblically sound.
sunday, october 28. do not .
be called leaders, for your leader is one, the christ.matt.
23:9, 10.. christendoms churches have human leaders, such as the pope of rome, the patriarchs and metropolitans of the eastern orthodox churches, and the heads of other religions.
The governing body say they are not our leaders. They just tell us what to do and what to think and what is right and what is wrong. That's all. Not really our leaders!
on my other post 'thinking of becoming a jw' people mentioned that once i was baptised i would be told / given rules of what i can / cant do, things like: how i act, dress, how i can have sex with my husband??
what i can and cant eat ( according to some research ive done).
i would be really interested to hear as many of these rules now - as i think its too late after one is baptised.. i would be grateful of as many as possible about anything any topic even thouse i havent mentioned.. thanks x.
How is this for a rule? Once you are baptised there is no getting out of it. No honorable way any hows.
